The Pipe Challenge is ON!!

January 23, 2014

The A.P.B. (Association of Professional Bodyboarders) and the IBA Hawaii Tour would like to announce that they have come to an agreement that is a win-win situation for everyone involved with the Pipeline Challenge.  Of course we would have all liked to have reached this point a month or two or go, but here we are and here we go!

Not only is the Pipeline Challenge the first event on the World Tour, but is the first event on the IBA Hawaii Tour with Hawaii Pros and International Pros going head to head.

From results of the 2013 IBA Hawaii Tour, the top 8 men, top 2 women and top 2 DK riders receive automatic seeding into the Pipe event without the need for competing in Trials.  All other competitors in this year’s 2014 IBA Hawaii Tour who enter this event will battle through Trials at Kea’au’s to the main Event at Pipe along with unseeded International Competitors.  Points will be awarded to Hawaii Tour members as part of the 2014 Hawaii Tour (that will not include any international riders).  This is the official event number 1 of 4 for the year for the IBA Hawaii Tour and the Kick off event for the World Tour!

Entry fees for this combined World Tour and Hawaii Tour event are:

Juniors:  $150

Women: $200

DK:  $200

Men: $250

Complete Entry Form and Payment details with deadline information will be available in the next 24 hours.

A huge thank you to all in the decision making process to make this event happen with special gratitude to Mike Stewart, Ben Severson, Craig Hadden and Alex Leon and all members of the APB top 24.  Of course none of this moves forward without our sponsors:  Kellogg’s, Science Bodyboards, MS Viper fins and Gyroll Leashes and Wetsuits.

Aloha and Best Regards,

Norm Skorge
